If you release this card and Tribute Summon a level 5 or 6 monster or a monster like Tsumuha-Kutsunagi the Lord of Swords that can be put out with a single Tribute, it's excellent with no add loss.
Both (1) and (3) target yourself, and since they are cards that work on their own, they can be used outside of Spirit Decks.
There is no specified place to release it, and it can be used as a ritual material if you want to use it because it will lead to (3) regardless of whether you release it from your hand or field.
