Although there are conditions and restrictions, I think it's excellent that you can salvage your favorite "Ninjitsu" monsters and "Ninjitsu" cards every turn with the effect of (1).
I think the advantage of (2)'s substitution effect is that it can also protect this card.

The effect itself is rather plain
For example, if Chain 1 Hanzo and Chain 2 recovery can be avoided, it is not easy to underestimate.
Also, since he is a Ninjitsu card, it is good that he can be searched easily.

His Field Spell for Ninja. Ninja and Ninjitsu brought from GY can't be used that turn, but he Ninjitsu is a Continuous Trap. It is also possible to draw his Ninjitsu Trap, which was used for the hand cost with "Upstart Golden Ninja", into the hand again.

Ninja has finally won the field.
Whenever Ninja is deployed, he can salvage GY's Ninja or Ninjitsu, and once per turn when Ninja or Civil Law is destroyed, he can instead banish GY's Ninja.
It is also conceivable that all Ninjas could be given a summon trigger effect that could salvage a Ninja or Ninjitsu. However, since the activation of cards with the same name as the collected card is restricted, it is easy to require a set or cost operation. It would be better to prepare a colored Ninja with a reverse effect or a Trap Ninja that is used face down, or use it at the cost of 《Upstart Golden Ninja》. It's a salvage from GY, so be aware that it's difficult to use in the early stages.
The effect that protects Ninja and Ninjitsu consumes GY's Ninja and has a turn 1 limit, so there is no DEF that can be relied on that much. It would be better to think of him as a check-and-balance as a DEF.
The salvage effect is strong, but is it painful that it is difficult to move in the early stages due to the strong restrictions and the nature of the salvage?

If Salvage is a Trap, you can overwhelm the disadvantages, and there is also a substitute for it, so it is an effect without a loss. However, it would have been nice to have a little more punch.
