Gladiator Beast has so many opportunities for his Special Summon that you won't have any trouble activating it.
Therefore, if he was a Continuous Trap, he would have been very interesting, but if it was a Normal Trap, he would be a conditional handicap card with a 1:1 exchange. Moreover, since it is the opponent who chooses which cards to discard, it cannot be dealt a blow unless the situation is exceptional.
It's basically 1:1, but it's very doubtful that the one card that spoils more than enough and the one card that is chosen from the hand and discarded are of equal value. Therefore, even Gladiator Beast is quite difficult to adopt.
