In the Monster Zone, he can have the same name as "Black Magician", so he can of course benefit from 《Eternal Soul》, but it can also be the starting point for activating 《Dark Magical Circle》and his GY's Magician's Navigate.
Also, if he uses Spell Trap, he can revive GY's black magician, so it is possible to raise rank 7 without relying on "Eternal Soul".
If you use his Counter Trap during your opponent's turn, you can also get a Special Summon from your hand, so even if it comes to you, it won't spoil easily.
The drawback is that GY cannot treat it as the same name.
