Most of them can work 1:1, so they are not weak.
It can be used as a bluff, but unlike 《Waking the Dragon》, it can be split by yourself, so it is easy to use actively. There are cards like 《Borreload Riot Dragon》that can self-destruct without reducing the add, so if things go well, it's not impossible to aim for handicap from the first turn.
Against sweepers like Harpie's Feather Duster, chaining Trap Trick from his deck and destroying it is not a bad tactic.
Since it's a Normal Trap, it's also a good idea to support from places like "Labrynth" and "Lord of the Heavenly Prison", and use it repeatedly to hit your opponent with nasty tactics.
That said, since it's a 1:1 card, I can't deny that it lacks some power in modern Yu-Gi-Oh! "I'm not weak, but..."
