In the original Battle City arc, Hamo is his Insect monster that first appeared on the field, and it features a skull pattern on his back, but he is not DARK.
Insect is a card designed to let Jounouchi and readers as Duelists know about the characteristics of the race, such as monsters with such effects, even though their individual combat abilities are low.
In OCG, the amount of recovery is doubled from the original to 1000, and the effect will be activated no matter what area he is sent to GY by any method or timing.
Furthermore, there is no name turn 1 in the activation, and you can recover Morimori LP as many times as you sent to GY.
