It's not like Nyarlathotep.
Sending it from his hand to his GY gives him the effect of sending Deck's Light Reptiles to his GY, and his Ogdoadic of Darkness, which when deployed on the field has the effect of searching for Ogdoadic Spell Trap.
The dark counterpart to Null is Ogdoadic, who can send LIGHT to his GY. Similar to Null in Ogdoadic, he's definitely a great boost to both quantity and quality of GY, and this effect alone makes him a great value in Ogdoadic.
