A card that can be said to be a de facto Fluffal hand trigger.
By playing Whale, you can interrupt the opponent's initial move with non-targeted destruction, but Whale cannot be destroyed by his GY effect of this card.
If the Fluffal side goes first, it can be used in such a way as searching for a patchwork that has been searched in a chain and taking a stance to suppress interference.
This alone is strong, but it's not hard to imagine what would happen if you used Penguin as a fusion material and used that effect to draw cards and discard Toy Vendor or a chain.
If you don't play monsters like Pakike in your NS at the start of the main phase, it's hard to avoid using the effect.
Gravehole doesn't work against Scythe's hand effect, but it does work against Scythe and Penguin, who are sent to GY as materials, so I'd like to deal with it.
