With a 60-card deck, you can drop about 20 cards if you use it in your first hand, but if your opponent is shaving his deck with searches, you can drop more. On the other hand, even if you draw after the middle stage, you can only drop about 5 cards.
A 60-card deck is still good to maximize the potential, but if there are other cards you want in your starting hand, 55 or 50 seems to work to some extent.
