Xyz Monster can be given target resistance, but honestly, the problem is that the resistance that can be given beyond the requirement of Xyz materials is shoddy.
Target designation is done when the effect is activated, so even though it's a trap, there's little significance in activating the chain, which also adds to the subtleties.
Ordinarily, it is more convenient to use the general-purpose negate effect.
